The world that books open up for children is truly a world we should strive to make available to every single child.
With my own son going into third grade, this age group is close to my heart. It’s truly wrenching to hear of children without the privileges most of us take for granted. The caring teachers at Tulakes Elementary are an inspiration.
The Prize: One critique of your query letter or the first five-pages of your double-spaced manuscript for a young adult novel.
The Darer:
After college, J.E. MacLeod wrote professionally as a copywriter for radio and television before moving on to work in sales and marketing. Eventually JE returned to writing, freelancing for local and national magazines and finally took the plunge and wrote her first book. Once she started writing YA, she felt like she’d found her home and has been writing it ever since.
J.E.’s first YA, WAITING TO SCORE was published by Westside Books in Spring 2009.
