We’ve rolled out the red carpet and the guests are arriving!
Please sign the guestbook and leave a nice message for Cynthea for posterity. Enjoy the party!
And if you haven’t already, do drop a comment for Briarglen Elementary, a Title I school in Oklahoma. I’ll still doing the library lovin’ challenge and if I reach 1000 comments, Briarglen gets 200 smackers!

PARIS PAN, nominated for Texas Lone Star Reading List 2010
Paris Pan Takes the Dare draws you in and won't let you go until the end."
Hey Cynthea,
When will we hear back on the critiques from the auction you held last summer?
I’m on chapter 8.
Our students enjoyed Cynthea’s visit tremendously and look forward to her return visit sometime. What a delight it was for all…teachers included. I had the priviledge of being her elementary principal and we are so proud of her success! Great job. Keep writing and engaging your readers.
Our school is VERY excited as we won (through the ALA conference) a virtual author visit with you! We are also promoting the “Take the Dare” writing contest! Love the connection!
I am looking forward to the visit!
It’s uncanny, really, how much of myself I find in your work. Like you, I am also a Chinese-American who lived in Oklahoma for a large portion of my life – and who, despite never quite fitting in, always felt more American than Chinese. I’m looking forward to reading your work soon – that is, once they arrive! I heard that you were going to my brother’s school in St. Charles, Missouri and I hope I can get a chance to talk to you.
Hope we get a chance to meet. Enjoy PARIS PAN and The Great Call. I’ll be looking forward to hearing what you think!
Hey Cyn! I am going to donate a copy of Watersmeet to the school–to be passed on to the high school/middle school. I may have some other ARCs around I can pass on, too. No prize needed. You rock!
You rock, Ellen! Tulakes will look forward to receiving your book!
Thanks for having an after party for those of us that weren’t able to make it right away. The auction and donations are a really great idea. I hope it helps the the school!
I’m crossing my fingers that Paris Pan will be a great success. My copy is on the way right now

We’ve just been off to amazon.co.uk to buy this book and The Great Call of China. I’m looking forward to reading both books!
The children at Briarglen Elementary are lucky to have you. Sorry I missed the auction, but my daughter and I will take the dare, and have books–will send.
Great idea.
Thank you so much for your support. Tulakes is looking forward to receiving your book donation!
Hey Cynthea.Thank you so much for your generosity to our school. Thank you to everyone who donated and bought from the auction. We are so blessed to have caring people like you. Our students will certainly benefit from all you have done for us!! My daughter, Ashley, and I finished Paris Pan Takes the Dare. We loved it-could hardly put it down. You are so awesome to go out of your way for Tulakes. That’s a big task to take on promoting a new book AND earning reading money for needy kids. You all will surely be blessed!
Michele Parham, Tulakes Elementary
Michele, you did a lot of the hard work, too! Thank YOU for giving me the opportunity to help Tulakes. And your enthusiastic support of PARIS PAN is awesome. I hope I get to meet Ashley when I visit you in September. I love meeting fans!
Thanks for giving us the opportunity to help support schools in need!
Cynthea,
Thank you for this great opportunity! It takes a great person to put something like this together, and it takes great people like the authors, illustrators and editors to make it happen! Just Awesome!!
The kids are lucky to have such a caring person.
Congrats on this wonderful auction!
Rosa
Missed the auction, but I’m definitely taking the after-party dare. Book donations en route!
Thank you so much for your support! Tulakes is looking forward to receiving your books! Hoorah!
Hi Cynthea,
Great Job with the auction.
How do the winners make their contributions?
Cynthea – Your efforts on behalf of these kids is amazing. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to do our bit.
Congratulations on a job well done!
Hi, Cynthea. I haven’t read Paris yet, but I will! Congratulations on your latest success.
Yipee! I may have won an agent critique. Cynthea, thanks for giving us a cause we can all get behind and linking it to personal opportunity.
Dear Cynthea,
I am so impressed with both your creativity and your enormous generosity. I have ordered your books to further appreciate you but I am truly struck by your ability to gather so much talent together and organize it in such a short time. Thanks to all the authors, editors and agents who responded to you and the kids. This opens up an entirely new way to launch a book and help the very people we are writing for. We write for love. Now they will read for love. Thank you! Thank you! G.F.
Nice to see you at the 65th anniversary Party. Love your book
Thank you, J! I love hearing from fans. Thanks for taking the time to tell me what you thought. Rock on!
WOW, I loved this book I read it in a bookstore & then bought it for my Daughter Kenna…
) Keep up the WONDERFUL Job of being a SUPER WONDERFUL Author!!!!
Hi, at our local non-profit, I’m called Ms. B, the librarian. On behalf of Color Online, we are happy to send you books and give you are support in your efforts to provide for your students at Tulakes.
Susan, Tulakes appreciates any books you can donate. The mailing address has been posted at http://www.cynthealiu.com/showyoucare. THANKS AGAIN! (And I love your website!)
The book was great, Cynthea! And I love what you are doing for the Oklahoma schools.
Hey Cynthea,
Anything for another Oklahoma girl! We just got back from Tulsa, where it was 100 every day!
Love all the energy you’ve got going!
Kate
Okay girley girl! I have bid on your auction package. We will see if anyone outbids me. Ha! Love this web site. It is lots of fun! Hope to see you when you are in OK. If not for anything else to sign my book(s)—depending on how the auction goes!!!
You are so fun!!!!
**high fives** for Cynthea!
I took the dare too.
Since I have never been able to find any of Cynthea Liu’s books in my local bookstores, I took the opportunity to order her entire oeuvre: “Paris Pan Takes the Dare”, “Great Call of China”, and “Writing for Children and Teens” from Amazon through this web site in order to qualify for free shipping. I made my contribution to the “Think or Sink” classroom project at Tulakes Elementary School, which intrigued me.
What a wonderful way idea! The perfect cycle- people who make a living off the selling of books helping to fund books and instill a love of reading. All around win win situation.
Cynthea,
I bought your book at the Printers Row Lit Event and had you autograph it to the kids at OTSC (Off the Street Club). I’ve read it, before giving it to the club. LOVE it! Great, inspiring, and true to life book.
Sheila
I LOVE this bidding idea… querying is discouraging. A bonafied critique from any of these wonderful authors, editors or agents will be worth EVERY penny and best of all it helps a great cause! ~ Tina P
