Beef Broccoli
Recipe from Mrs. Dorothy Pan (a.k.a. Cynthea’s mom)
- Flank steak – 1 lb, slice thin against the grain
- Broccoli – 1 ½ lb, slice to 1/8″ thick and 2″ long
- Soy sauce- 2 tablespoon
- Oyster sauce – 3 tablespoon
- Corn starch – 2 tablespoon
- Green onion – 2 stalk, slice to 2″ long
- Sugar – 2 tablespoon
- Olive Oil – 3 tablespoon
- Egg – one
- Water – ½ cup
Mix steak with corn starch, soy sauce, sugar, green onion, and add ½ tablespoon oil in a large bowl. Add egg white to the mix and stir in the same direction for 1 min. Let the mix sit for 10 min.
Heat 1/3 cup of water in a large sauce pan. When boil, add broccoli. Stir and cover for 1 min (turn heat to medium). Then add oyster sauce and stir. Add more water if needed.
Do not overcook the broccoli. Cook until tender, but crisp. Remove broccoli from pan and set aside.
Heat remaining oil in the sauce pan, add steak mix. Mix well. When beef is starting change color, add broccoli. Mix them well. Add some water if the sauce is too thick.
Enjoy!
Daddy’s Nachos
- Find anything remotely close to servable from the refrigerator for nachos
- Potential items include tomatoes, green onions, onions, ground beef, sour cream, cheddar cheese, salsa, lettuce
- Must have nacho chips. Doritos work, too.
- Always serve a protein – ground beef is best. Tear open some Taco Bell seasoning and cook up the beef in it.
- Set out everything you retrieved from the fridge, buffet-style. Papa Pan loves buffet-style.
- Call the kids! Chi fan le! It’s time to eat!

- Watch sister reach for milk and get angry – “You hogged up all the milk!”
- Commence Stage III fight in front of the stove while mother completely ignores her children.
- Let sister have your macaroni.
- Grab spoon and have your dog lick it.
- Then stick your slobbery spoon into what’s rightfully yours.
- Enjoy sister’s scream of disgust.
