Josh Berk
“My mom was a librarian, my dad was a librarian, and guess what my job is? I’m a librarian and an author, which means I’ve been lucky enough to have lived most of my life surrounded by books! When my friend Cynthea told me she was working on a special project to support the love of reading and writing at Tulakes Elementary I knew I’d do whatever I could to help. Like all authors who write for young people, I do so because I believe that there is nothing more special than the connection between children and books. It’s a truly magical thing and I’m honored to be a small part of it.”
The Prize: One critique of the first five pages of your double-spaced fiction YA manuscript.
The Darer: Josh Berk is a librarian and author from Allentown, PA. He’s also known as a journalist, humorist, and guitarist (mostly in bands known for things other than fine guitar-playing). His debut YA novel, THE DARK DAYS OF HAMBURGER HALPIN, hits the shelves Feb 9, 2010 from Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Learn more about Josh.
